Putting out a zine, any zine, is a political act. Whether it's the high school kid who does a zine about Sloan, or the collective's newsletter advocating environmental awareness, both are reclaiming what was essentially theirs to begin with."
This year was the first year that i have ever heard of let alone created a zine. to put out and publish a zine you must be really passionate about a certain subject in order to base a mini-magazine on it, so of course it is seen as political act. If you are going to put your money into publishing something of course you ar etrying to prove a point or to show the population what your views are. My zine that created with my group was that of a "mens only zine" basically it was about subject restricted to what men do. Although it was a high school project i believe it can be seen as a political statement, because it was our parody of men's magazine that do exist such as Maxim and stuff. Although it was not meant to be seen or viewed intitially as political views, it may have turned out that way because of the subject matter and how we decided to create our zine as a spin off sort of thing from actual magazines.
